The Pride of Detroit Community Mock Draft gets back on track with the Carolina Panthers and the 24th overall pick. After a bounceback 11-5 season, the Panthers are looking to take the next step and get back to the Super Bowl.

Reliable general manager kevough1 has taken the stage for Carolina’s pick. With the 24th pick in the POD Community Mock, he has taken Stanford safety Justin Reid.

Here’s kevough1:

The product of an athletic family. Coming out of LSU in 2013, Justin’s brother, Eric, was taken 18th overall by the San Francisco 49ers.

Like most college teams, Stanford employed Reid in some different ways throughout his career.

JR has more then enough range and instinct to play deep zone. His footwork and quickness make him an excellent coverage safety. Reid played a significant portion of 2017 in the slot, and he is tough to beat. He doesn’t have the hips of a corner, but he opens from his backpedal quickly, showing clean footwork and explosiveness once he gets into his stride. He’s physical, tracks the ball with precision, and has sticky hands. His strength in run support is what rounds out his profile

A few negatives I noted: Sometimes he get lost, like the TD in this clip from UCLA around the 2:30 mark. He is gonna have to learn he can't hold on to NFL receivers jerseys.

New defensive coordinator Eric Washington gets a new toy to go along with free-agent defensive tackle Dontari Poe.
