In a lot of ways, the Tennessee Titans are in a situation very similar to the Detroit Lions. They’re coming off a mediocre 9-7 season, and both decided that wasn’t good enough, firing their head coach this offseason. The Titans hired their own guy with Patriot ties, former New England linebacker Mike Vrabel.

To aid Vrabel to the promise land, we’ve asked Pride of Detroit commenter alex.lanser to act as the Titans’ general manager in our Community Mock Draft. With the 25th pick in the POD Community Mock, the Titans have selected Alabama linebacker Rashaan Evans. Here’s alex.lanser with the justification for the pick:

New head coach Mike Vrabel will want to put his stamp on this team. As a former linebacker, the idea of adding a talented, versatile player at the position is too enticing to pass up. The Titans could use a pass rusher, but the top talents were not available. Also, Evans brings value in that area, recording 15 career sacks in the SEC. Evans’ combine numbers and measurements won’t “wow” anyone, but his instincts, toughness, and experience are top-notch.

This team is not far from the Super Bowl, and they’ve already added some significant pieces this offseason. Notably, Malcolm Butler should help alleviate some concerns in the secondary. Their defensive line depth is not great, but the Titans can add to that later in the draft, or with a veteran free agent. Evans could be the piece they need to take their defense to the next level.
