We’re still a few hours away from the full 2018 Detroit Lions schedule being officially released, but some more leaks are coming.
One of the most interesting games on the Lions’ schedule is Matt Patricia’s first game against his former team, the New England Patriots. Marc Bertrand of 98.5 The Sports Hub in Boston is reporting that game will take place in Week 3:

Combined with the rumor that the Lions will open up the 2018 season at home against the New York Jets, that means that Detroit will knock out their two out-of-conference home games in the first three weeks of the season. They are playing the Bills and Dolphins on the road in 2018.
The last time the Lions faced off against the Patriots was 2014, when New England dominated Detroit on the road to a 34-9 victory. The Lions have only beaten the Patriots four times in series history.
It’s unclear yet whether this will be a nationally televised game or not, but it will certainly be one of the more interesting games early in the season.
UPDATE: This game will be played on Sunday Night Football:
