Now that the 2018 NFL schedule is out, the predictions are coming in left and right. As pointed out in our Friday notes, nearly every local beat writer is expecting a 9-7 season from the Detroit Lions.
However, if the Las Vegas win total over/unders are any indications, a lot of people outside Detroit are expecting a worse season than that. The over/under for Lions wins in 2018 is currently set at just 7.5 wins, according to BetOnline.ag. Not only that, but right now the “under” has a lower payout (-130), indicating that the early money is on Detroit failing to reach 7.5 wins.
For reference, both the Green Bay Packers and the Minnesota Vikings are set at 10.5 wins, while the Chicago Bears are at 6.5 wins. Throughout the entire league, only 10 teams have a lower win total than 7.5.
Last year, Vegas set the over/under at eight wins, a total that the Lions exceeded in the final week of the season. Back in May, 77 percent of fans said they would take the over in that scenario. Now it’s time to see what you think of the Lions’ 7.5 win total this year.
