Matthew Stafford ranked among the top 15 in NFL jersey sales

Despite entering his 10th season, Matthew Stafford’s jersey is still a hot commodity.

Matthew Stafford may continue to be ignored or doubted by many analysts both nationally and locally, but the fans are very clearly behind their quarterback.

Over the past month, Stafford is the 15th most popular jersey being sold at Dick’s Sporting Goods, according to their official website. Interestingly enough, Stafford is ranked above every NFC North quarterback except... Mitchell Trubisky. Yes, that means Stafford’s jersey is currently selling better than Aaron Rodgers (No. 22).

Of course, recency has a lot to do with this list. The newer the player, the more in demand their jersey is (for obvious reasons). That explains why Giants rookie running back Saquon Barkley is the No. 1 selling jersey, Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield cracked the top 10, and why Trubisky is all the way up at No 6.

As for Stafford, it’s worth noting that there is only one player that has been in the league longer that is currently topping him in jersey sales: Tom Brady. That means that Stafford has remained extremely popular despite entering his 10th season in 2018. Or maybe some fans are just finally willing to admit their quarterback is pretty good.

For what it’s worth, the next most popular Lions jersey is the very nice Golden Tate, who comes in all the way at 69. No other Lions player cracked the top 100.
