Lions notes: Darius Slay already adhering to The Patriot Way

Don’t expect to hear a lot of in-depth quotes having anything to do with strategy from the team this year.

  • We know, we know. It’s an entirely overused phrase, but the Detroit Lions are already adhering to one of the main things that defined “The Patriot Way”: Secrecy. Sports Illustrated’s Robert Klemko tried to get the inside scoop about Matt Patricia from Darius Slay, and this is how Slay responded: “Lawd Jesus, not the Lions. I ain’t fin to have Patricia calling me. He already done warned us man! They’re strict.” (h/t @ChrisBurkeNFL)

  • A few Lions players wished Barry Sanders a happy birthday on Monday, including fellow 50-year-old A’Shawn Robinson:

  • The Detroit Lions announced on Monday that they have hired Jen McCollum as the team’s Senior Director of Community Relations. According to the team’s website, McCollum will “oversee both the organization’s community outreach programs and philanthropic foundation.”

  • Part two of the Lions’ Whisper Challenge may be better than the first version. Keep them coming, Lions media team:
