As we prepare for the Detroit Lions’ 2018 season, we’re looking to take Pride of Detroit to bigger and higher levels. We’ve got a lot planned for the upcoming season, and we’re looking for motivated people to help us reach some of our goals this year.

That’s where you come in. As of right now, Pride of Detroit is seeking to hire two or three new people for the 2018 season. Here’s what we’re looking for:

Deputy Manager

Job description: We’re essentially looking for someone to fill a No. 2 position with the site. Someone who can jump in if I get in a pinch or decide to take a rare vacation. Someone who can grab a news story at any time of the day, pitch in with story ideas, and help with some of the daily and/or weekly tasks for the site.

Duties include (but are not limited to):

  • News writing
  • Content curation
  • Analysis writing
  • Daily communication with staff
  • Occasional management of social media

Prior writing experience is not required but it is a plus. Open availability during the day in which news may hit is a must. I am looking for someone who is able to write quite a bit. There won’t be an exact quota for you to meet, but I am looking for someone who can contribute on a daily basis.

Moderator

This one is simple. I’m looking for someone—preferably someone already active and familiar with the comment section—to moderate comments, delete harmful and abusive language, and, in extreme cases, ban users.

Duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Deleting comments in both articles and fanposts
  • Sending warnings explaining the violation to users
  • Check registered users list for spam accounts and delete accordingly
  • Report violations to the staff
  • Ban users who are multiple offenders

Writer/contributor

Lastly, we’re just looking for a general writer and contributor. We’re seeking someone with a new, unique outlook that can bring a unique point of view and fresh takes to the staff. If you think you’ve got a good knowledge of the Detroit Lions, a solid writing style, and opinions and/or analysis that needs to be heard, you’re the kind of person we’re looking for!

We’re looking for someone who is available to contribute a couple times per week, but if you want to write even more than that, that is always welcome!

How to apply

If you think you’re qualified and able to handle one or more of these roles, send an email to SB Nation’s talent Manager Jeanna Thomas at jeanna.thomas@sbnation.com. Please include these four things in your email.

  • What job(s) are you applying for?
  • Cover letter
  • Resume
  • Any previous writing experience (with an example), if applicable

We’re looking forward to adding some new faces to the team. If you think you’d be a good fit, please apply now! We’re hoping to add someone in the next week or two, so DON’T WAIT!
