Report: Detroit Lions interested in free agent CB Kayvon Webster

The cornerback may have many potential suitors in the upcoming weeks.

Free agent cornerback Kayvon Webster posted a screenshot of a text message on his verified Instagram account that mentions potential interest in his services by the Detroit Lions on Tuesday.

It is unclear who the sender of these texts are but it is implied that they are coming from a person familiar with the free agent’s current situation. The text also clearly mentions the Houston Texans as potential suitors for the defensive back. The abbreviations in the second message seem to imply that the New England Patriots, New York Jets, Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, Arizona Cardinals, Philadelphia Eagles, Houston Texans, Buffalo Bills, Seattle Seahawks and Chicago Bears have also shown interest.

The cornerback was a member of the Los Angeles Rams last season. He started in all 11 games that he played in last season before rupturing his Achilles in December. Webster was later released by the Rams with a failed physical designation after he was made expendable by the additions of Aqib Talib and Marcus Peters.

Adding Webster would be a questionable move for the Lions. They already have a wealth of cornerback depth behind Darius Slay, and it is unlikely that Webster would be able to push the likes of Nevin Lawson of Teez Tabor for the CB2 role so soon after an Achilles injury.

No other sources have reported any interest in Webster from the Lions.
