VIDEO: Watch Lions coach Matt Patricia give a fiery post-game speech vs. Buccaneers

We’ve never seen Patricia address the Lions’ in the locker room... until now.

For the past couple years, the Detroit Lions media team has created a miniseries called “Inside the Den.” It gives a pretty neat behind-the-scenes look at Lions training camp in a similar fashion to the famous HBO series “Hard Knocks.”

Admittedly, this is a heavily sanitized version of Hard Knocks. The player interviews are full of softball questions, the quotes are mostly formulaic responses, and the editing team pretty much washes over anything negative that happens throughout the entire preseason. In other words, expect the Robert Ayers saga to be completely ignored.

That being said, it’s still an interesting series to watch, as it gives a sneak-peak into practices, meetings and on-the-field discussions that we would otherwise not be privy to.

In the latest episode of “Inside the Den,” the Lions offer a little of both worlds. While they pretty much completely erase the first half of the Buccaneers game, they also give us something we haven’t ever seen yet: Matt Patricia addressing his team in the locker room.

At the 8:12 mark of this week’s episode Patricia gives a fiery speech complimenting the team on their determination to lead a comeback after starting down 27-6 to win 33-30.

“I told you guys, I told you, conditioning, situational football, mental toughness, 60 minutes. 60 minutes, I told you that’s how we’ll win,” Patricia said in front of his new team. “Great job in the second half. We gotta get better now for a full game. Everybody understand me? I want 60 minutes now.”

We know Patricia can be an energetic head coach, but this is the first time we’ve actually seen it, albeit in a slightly edited fashion.

The entire video is worth an entire watch, especially for the the final two minutes when it essentially turns into a hype video. Check it out here.
