Another week is here and that means it’s time for another preview podcast for our First Byte crew. Unlike last week, we were able to find ourselves a guest for this week’s episode. To help us preview Detroit Lions vs. San Francisco 49ers, we nabbed David Fucillo of Niners Nation to give us everything he knows about the 0-1 Niners.

Is Jimmy Garoppolo the next elite quarterback? How will the Niners look without suspended Reuben Foster? Will Kyle Shanahan destroy Matt Patricia with his mind? We get all of those answers and more from the highly-informed man they call “Fooch.”

This week on First Byte:

  • Breaking down the 49ers’ offseason: Biggest additions, biggest weaknesses, and outlook for the 2018 season.
  • San Francisco’s offensive line is much different, but is it any better? Is Laken Tomlinson any good yet?
  • The Niners are already getting production out of their first three draft picks, can third-round linebacker Fred Warner make up for Reuben Foster’s suspension?
  • MATCHUPS: Will the Lions be able to exploit the 49ers’ new, beat-up offensive lien?
  • Is there any way the Lions can stop the three-headed monster of Solomon Thomas, DeForest Buckner and Arik Armstead?
  • The 49ers don’t have a ton in terms of wide receivers, but other offensive weapons could hurt the Lions on Sunday.
  • The Lions actually have a pretty significant advantage on Sunday, and it starts and ends with their receivers.
  • Jeremy, Ryan, and Fooch make their one prediction for Sunday’s game, and some of them aren’t horrible.
