Sunday open thread: Will you be watching the Pro Bowl?

Be honest: Are you watching?

NFL: Pro Bowl AFC/NFC Practice Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

It’s Football Sunday! Well... kind of.

For the first time since early September, the NFL will not be playing a game that will have an impact on the 2018 NFL season. We’re officially a week away from the Super Bowl, but that means we’re left with no playoff games today.

A few years ago, the NFL tried to fix this problem by placing the Pro Bowl in this middle week between the conference championship games and the super Bowl. It’s probably a better space for the game, rather than after the Super Bowl—however, the league still struggles to create intrigue for a game in which the players very clearly don’t give it their all.

Still, the game manages to get acceptable ratings, because people love football—even football at half speed.

So today’s Question of the Day is:

Will you be watching the 2019 NFL Pro Bowl?

My answer: I will probably do what I do every year. Convince myself that I’m not going to bother wasting my time. Then as kickoff nears, I’ll manage to make some sort of excuse to turn it on (maybe Darius Slay will have a sick pick-six). Then after 15 minutes of watching the Pro Bowl, I’ll stop watching and take a nap or something.

Your turn.
