Thursday open thread: Which team are you rooting for in the playoffs?

Which team are you hoping emerges from the NFL 2019 playoffs.

We’re only a couple days away from the start of the 2019 NFL Playoffs, and while the Detroit Lions are out of postseason contention for the second straight year, there are plenty of reasons to watch the next month of exciting football.

Will the high-flying offenses of the Rams, Chiefs and Saints continue the dominance they showed in the regular season, or will the more well-rounded teams that can play solid defense give them trouble in one-and-done situations? Will Patrick Mahomes add onto his outstanding 50 touchdown, 5,000-yard season? Is the Patriots dynasty nearing an end?

With so many interesting storylines to follow, it’s hard to decide on a team to root for, especially when none of them can fill the spot in your heart taken by the Lions.

Today’s Question of the Day is:

Which team are you rooting for in the 2019 NFL Playoffs?

My answer: I don’t particularly like any of the teams left in the playoffs, but I have to go with the Kansas City Chiefs. Much like the Lions, they haven’t seen much postseason success at all. Since 1993, they’ve only had one playoff win—a 30-0 drubbing of the Texans in 2015. They’re 1-10 ever since making a conference championship run in 1993. Though they’ve won a Super bowl, it was way back in 1970.

The Chiefs are the team I think a lot of people wish the Lions were. A team with a rough history that has somehow brought themselves out of the depths of the league to be one of the most exciting franchises in the NFL right now. Good coaching, exciting players and a scheme that is endlessly fun to watch. Give me more of that and less of the tired Patriots run in the AFC.
