For the second straight day, cornerback Darius Slay did not practice, despite being out there with his team on the practice field. Slay aggravated a hamstring injury early in last week’s game against the Minnesota Vikings and did not return. Slay already missed Week 4’s game with a hamstring injury and it appears he’s now in danger of missing a second.
In positive news, both Nick Bawden and Mike Daniels returned to practice. Bawden seems likely to play this week, while this was Daniels’ first practice in a month, so he may still need a week or two to get back into football shape.
Damon Harrison Sr. also sat out of practice on Thursday. Though he is listed with an groin injury that caused him to miss some time last Sunday, all indications point to this simply being veteran rest for big defensive tackle.
For the Giants, the only change in their injury report is running back Saquon Barkley was moved from limited practice to full practice. As for wide receiver Sterling Shepard, he remains in concussion protocol and seems unlikely to play this week:
"Strong possibility" that WR Sterling Shepard (concussion) remains sidelined this week vs. Lions, per coach Pat Shurmur. That is based off what he knows today. Wouldn't expect that to change though.— Jordan Raanan (@JordanRaanan) October 24, 2019
