The Detroit Lions will be without one of their star defenders in Week 8 against the New York Giants, as the team officially ruled out cornerback Darius Slay with a hamstring injury on Friday.
Slay did not participate in any practices this week.
On the bright side, defensive tackle Damon Harrison Sr. returned to action, after sitting out on Thursday with a groin injury. Fullback Nick Bawden — who was limited on Thursday with a foot injury — was also a full participant. Both are listed as questionable for the game against the Giants.
Defensive tackle Da’Shawn Hand has yet to feature this season after suffering an elbow injury in training camp. He was a full participant once again Friday, and is slated to play this week.
Quarterback Matthew Stafford is slated to play as well despite a hip injury, and he was a full participant Friday.
Defensive tackle Mike Daniels has been ruled out with a foot injury, and cornerback Amani Oruwariye will miss out this weekend with a knee injury. Both were limited.
For the Giants, they will be without starting wide receiver Sterling Shepard this weekend, who is still in concussion protocol.
