As the team announced on Friday, the Detroit Lions will be missing a couple key players for their Week 8 game against the New York Giants. Cornerback Darius Slay (hamstring) and defensive tackle Mike Daniels (foot) were declared OUT with their respective injury. Slay’s hamstring held him out of practice all week, while Daniels finally returned to practice this week, but still appears a week or two away.

On the positive side, defensive tackle Da’Shawn Hand will make his 2019 debut on Sunday, as he is active after missing the first six games with an elbow injury. Hand arguably was the Lions’ best rookie in 2018, so his return to the lineup should be big for the Lions.

To make room for Hand, the Lions are making Kevin Strong a healthy scratch despite having a solid game last week against the Minnesota Vikings. Additionally, running backs Tra Carson and Paul Perkins are both active and could play a part in replacing Kerryon Johnson’s production, who was placed on injured reserve this week.

Here’s a list of the full Week 8 inactives.
