Thursday open thread: What surprised you the most about the Lions so far?

What has surprised you after the first four games?

NFL: Detroit Lions at Arizona Cardinals Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

If you would have told me in August, I would have been thrilled to know the Lions would be 2-1-1 through the first four games.

The Lions look like they could have one of the best overall rosters they’ve had in a long time. They’re getting solid contributions across the offense, defense, and special teams units.

And even though we’re just a quarter through the season, there have already been quite a few surprises — both good and bad.

Today’s Question of the Day is:

What surprised you the most about the Lions after the first four games?

My answer: Darrell Bevell.

I was pretty high on the Lions offense coming into the season. I always thought the narrative about the Lions turning into a 1920’s style offense was a bit overblown. But I had no idea what Bevell would bring to the offense.

So far I have been pleasantly surprised.

Having an experience play-caller has been a big win for the Lions. At times last year, under Jim Bob Cooter, it felt the offense was just running plays with no rhyme or reason behind it.

Now, with Bevell, the Lions are attacking defenses and creating unique game plans each and every week that are building upon each other.

I can’t wait to see what the rest of the season brings.

Your turn.
