The early games are either done or finishing up, which means it’s time for the late games to take the stage.
Unfortunately for us, the NFL schedule-makers decided it was a good idea to just have two contests on the plate this week. Lucky for Detroit Lions fans, one of those two games comes with very high interest.
The 3-1 Green Bay Packers are in Dallas for a showdown against the similarly 3-1 Cowboys. While most Lions fans despise both teams, it’s easy to pick sides when one lies in the division. A Packers loss would drop them to 3-2, and by nature of winning percentage, the Lions would jump them in the standings at 2-1-1 (a tie counts as a half-win).
Regardless of what happens in this game, next Monday night will be a showdown between the Lions and Packers for potentially a spot atop the NFC North. Green Bay is sitting pretty right now with wins over the Bears and Vikings already. A victory over Detroit would give them a clean sweep of the division (so far). For Detroit, it will be their first opportunity to match themselves up against a divisional foe.
But we’re getting ahead of ourselves right now. For now, let’s just sit back and watch as hopefully these teams look horrible and tire each other out.
If you want to talk about the other game on—Broncos at Chargers—feel free to.
