The Detroit Lions will be missing at least one key piece of their defense on Sunday against the Oakland Raiders. On Friday afternoon, the team announced that starting safety Tracy Walker is out after missing all week of practice with a knee injury.
It’s unfortunate timing for the Lions, as just a week ago they traded away veteran starting safety Quandre Diggs to the Seahawks. Now the Lions will have to rely on rookie Will Harris to step in, along with Tavon Wilson, Miles Killebrew and C.J. Moore.
Additionally, it looks like defensive tackle Mike Daniels is a week away. He’s listed as doubtful for Sunday while he continues to rehab from his foot injury suffered in Week 3.
Graham Glasgow (back) and Darius Slay (hamstring) are both questionable for Sunday’s game, but both were full participants in Friday’s practice, suggesting they may be good to go against the Raiders. Though it’s worth noting that MLive’s Kyle Meinke mentioned that Glasgow seemed particularly stiff in the locker room after Friday’s practice.
Additionally, defensive tackle A’Shawn Robinson was added to the injury report on Friday. He’s dealing with an ankle injury and was limited in Friday’s practice. He’s listed as questionable and if he can’t go—with the Lions already likely down Mike Daniels—that could mean the return of Kevin Strong to the lineup, after he was a healthy scratch last week (due to the return of Da’Shawn Hand).
Three other Lions players are also listed as questionable: running back Tra Carson (hamstring), defensive tackle Damon Harrison Sr. (groin), and cornerback Amani Oruwariye (knee).
The Raiders injury report isn’t out yet, but they are looking healthier at the center position. Both starting center Rodney Hudson and his backup Andre James returned to practice after missing the first two of the week.
