The Detroit Lions suffered another loss on Sunday to bring their divisional record this season to 0-3, and their overall record to a disappointing 3-5-1. This isn’t the way anyone hoped the season would go, and it’s raising some very valid questions surrounding the direction of the organization.
Question of the day: Is Matt Patricia on the hot seat?
My answer: No.
I know it’s tempting to say so, but if you look at the reality of the situation, Matt Patricia isn’t going anywhere after this year. He’s got a leash alongside general manager Bob Quinn of at least one more season, and I think anything short of a playoff appearance (no matter how good their record) will have them both out the door at that point.
In the meantime, it would take a total meltdown to change the situation. Patricia has a unique scheme that requires unique players, and it takes time to build that roster.
So in short, Patricia isn’t on the hot seat. He certainly will be to start next season, but in the meantime, it would be hard to make the situation any worse than it already is.
Your turn.
