Detroit Lions injury report: Jeff Driskel, 5 other starters questionable vs. Bears

Could it be David Blough time?

The Detroit Lions released their final injury report of the week before their Thanksgiving Day classic game against the Chicago Bears on Thursday.

First, let’s talk about who has been declared out already. Matthew Stafford, Marvin Hall, Jamal Agnew and Rashaan Melvin will all miss this week’s game, as expected. For Stafford, this will be the fourth straight game he has missed with his back injury.

Six players are listed as questionable. Let’s break them down individually.

QB Jeff Driskel

Driskel was limited all week with a hamstring injury. Throughout the week, head coach Matt Patricia has referred to Driskel as “sore” with this injury, but Driskel seemed to indicate he’ll do what he can to play this week.

“Yeah, it’s definitely gotten better each and every day,” Driskel said on Tuesday. “That’s just a testament to the guys in the training room – all of those guys that are here all hours of the day working with us. Yeah, so just doing what you can to get your body right and be out there.”

The Lions didn’t sign another quarterback this week, which suggests Driskel—at the very least—will be active this week, but we may see David Blough start his first career game.

DE Trey Flowers

Flowers was a FULL participant during Wednesday’s practice (a walkthrough), which suggests he’s in the final stages of concussion protocol. This opens the window for him returning after missing just one game.

DT Da’Shawn Hand

Hand returned to practice this week after missing a couple games with an ankle injury. He was limited all week, so his availability is still in questions, but he’s trending in the right direction.

Damon Harrison Sr.

Snacks had been regularly getting veteran days off. However, he left Sunday’s game late with an injury and is apparently dealing with a knee and calf injury. His status for Thursday is unclear.

T.J. Hockenson

Hockenson popped up on the injury report with a shoulder injury late last week. He played through it on a limited snap count last week, but was a full participant in Wednesday’s practice. He’ll likely play.

Tracy Walker

Just a few weeks ago, Walker returned to play after suffering a knee injury. However, he only last about a half before having to leave again. He returned to practice this week, but was limited in all three “practice.”

For the Chicago Bears, they have already declared six players out, including starting receiver Taylor Gabriel, right tackle Bobbie Massie and tight ends Ben Braunecker and Adam Shaheen.
