Detroit Lions tight end T.J. Hockenson had to leave the team’s Week 9 match up against the Oakland Raiders late in the game after suffering a hard hit from behind while trying to catch a pass. It was feared that he may have suffered another concussion with the way he reacted, but according to Justin Rogers of Detroit News, he did not.
On Hockenson, Patricia said he was hit in the back, hit was clean and it took the breath out of him. No concussion.— Justin Rogers (@Justin_Rogers) November 4, 2019
Per the tweet from Rogers, Matt Patricia told reporters that the rookie tight end suffered a hit to the back that just took the wind out of him.
Hockenson suffered a concussion earlier in the season, after taking a hard fall against the Kansas City Chiefs when he attempted to hurdle a player.
The tight end had caught three passes for 56 yards before having to leave the game with an injury. With this bit of news today, it seems as though he will be healthy as the team prepares for next Sunday’s matchup with the Chicago Bears, but it’s something to monitor during this week of practice.
Hockenson has caught 22 passes for 296 yards and two touchdowns so far in his rookie year.
