At 3-4-1 the Detroit Lions have given the fans very little to be optimistic about this season. The run game is non-existent. The defense is historically bad. And Lions traded away a team captain in Quandre Diggs and took offers on Darius Slay.
That’s a whole lot of mediocre and downright disaster.
But after coming off another loss this past week to the Raiders, I needed to try and focus on the positive.
What’s one reason you’re optimistic about the Detroit Lions’ future?
My answer: Matthew Stafford
Unfortunately we’ll look back years from now and realize how criminal it is to waste this type of season from Stafford.
Right now Matthew Stafford is:
- Second in pass touchdowns
- Fourth in total pass yards
- First in pass yards per game
- Fifth in yards per attempt
- Fifth in quarterback rating.
And that’s with the one of league’s worst run games. The Lions rank fifth in the NFL in yards per game despite being 21st in the league in rush yards per game. All of that credit should go on the quarterback.
Stafford has been excellent.
The rest of the team has been garbage.
Your turn.
