The Fords gathered a select group of media on Tuesday in which they announced that Detroit Lions head coach Matt Patricia—along with general manager Bob Quinn—would be retained for the upcoming season, a polarizing decision for the Lions faithful.
Question of the day: Do you approve of the Fords’ decision to retain Matt Patricia?
My answer: Yes, 100 percent.
I’ve never been the biggest fan of Patricia; I hope I’m wrong. However, it’s unfair to blame him for a failure of a season when you’ve trotted out second- and third-stringers most games. Sure, every team is hit with injury, but this year has been especially bad for the Lions.
Additionally, it’s still very likely we’ll see coaching changes beneath Patricia (*cough* Paul Pasqualoni *cough*). That’s enough reason for me to have hope for 2020 without the Lions necessarily pressing the big red button and blowing the whole Bob Quinn / Matt Patricia experiment up.
Do I know if it’ll work? Absolutely not. Do I hope it will? Always. Time will tell.
