The playoffs are getting closer, and tonight’s edition of Sunday Night Football will feature two teams with opposite aspirations.
The Kansas City Chiefs are playoff-bound as the AFC West champions, and their biggest question going forward is playoff seeding. Sitting at 10-4, the Chiefs trail the Baltimore Ravens (13-2) and New England Patriots (12-3) in the AFC, so a Wild Card round appearance is in the cards. The Chiefs have won four in a row, including a victory over the Patriots in Week 14. After a mid-season hiccup, the Chiefs have rebounded and look like the contenders they were to start the year.
The Chicago Bears, meanwhile, have strung together four wins in their last six games, but their playoff dreams have been dashed in a competitive NFC. They will look to finish with a record above .500, and given their lack of a first round draft pick in 2020, winning out is of minimal consequence. Still, it has been a disappointing season for the Bears, who were coming off a dominant 2018 campaign. With questions surrounding their offense, these final two games will be critical for Mitchell Trubisky and company. Will he return as their starter next season? We shall see.
