Breaking down the Detroit Lions’ draft pick order scenarios for Week 17

This week, we’re going to skip out on the Week 17 rooting guide. It’s a little obvious this week, so there’s really no need to get into it. Root for: Washington, the Giants, and the Dolphins. That’s really it.

With that out of the way, let’s look more into the specifics of where the Detroit Lions will stand at the end of Week 17. They could be anywhere between two and five in draft order depending on Sunday’s results.

So here’s a quick rundown of all the scenarios for the Lions’ 2020 NFL Draft pick order.

(Note: I am not including the possibilities of ties, as they may result in the tiebreaker of strength of schedule, which could fluctuate based on the results of a ton of other games.)

The Lions get the No. 2 pick if...

• Washington beats the Cowboys

(Note: if Washington ties, there is a small chance Detroit could still get the No. 2 pick, but it’s unlikely)

The Lions get the No. 3 pick if...

• Washington loses the Cowboys

• The Giants beat the Eagles AND
• The Dolphins beat Patriots
