The Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings face off in Detroit’s penultimate division game of 2019. The Lions have yet to win a game within the NFC North, and the last time these two teams faced off, the Vikings beat Detroit by double-digits—the only team to do that thus far this season.
Appropriately, the Vikings are double-digit favorites this week, as they host the Lions this time around. Minnesota sits at 8-4 this year, holding firmly on a Wild Card spot. The Chicago Bears are still lurking behind them at 7-6, but as long as the Vikings take care of their business, the Bears shouldn’t be a problem. That business, of course, involves defeating a Lions team that has lost eight of their last nine games.
Detroit is closing in on a top-five pick, but head coach Matt Patricia could be playing for something much more important to him—his job. Though there are no indications yet that the Lions would move on from him after just two years, this 2019 season hasn’t exactly brought about much optimism in the direction of this franchise.
