Consensus Mock Research: Note #2

Howdy all!

As I continue to process the mocks for the Consensus Mock Draft, I occasionally find something that I think will interest the readers of POD. Even though I didn't give it the headline of "Note #1", the most in-depth mock I've ever seen would certainly count as something I wanted to share with everybody.

This time, I'm sharing the first mock I've seen (now 108 mocks into my research), that has the Lions trading #8. The mock in question belongs to Chris Trapasso at CBSSports.com and he has them trading back with Cincinnati at #11. The Bengals use #8 to select QB Kyler Murray and the Lions use #11 to select DE Montez Sweat. The Lions also received Cincinnati's 3rd, 6th, & 7th round picks. According to the old Jimmy Johnson trade value chart, those three picks are worth more (248.4 pts (assuming they'd get the latter of the Bengal's two 6th rounders)) than the point value needed to move up (150 pts) from #11 to #8.

So, I'm wondering how y'all feel about that. There were a couple of other players still on the board that have been frequently mocked to the Lions (Devin White, Rashan Gary). And those three additional picks would give the Lions plenty of draft capital to make other trades throughout the draft.

And while #11 may still be a bit high for Sweat at this time, it's entirely possible he does well at the NFL Combine and makes #11 perfectly acceptable.

Anyway, like I said above, it's the first mock I've seen the Lions trading their pick. Thoughts, comments? Share 'em below.
