Detroit Lions re-sign long snapper Don Muhlbach

He’s back!

NFL: Pro Bowl AFC/NFC Practice Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

A couple weeks ago, Don Muhlbach was enjoying his second trip to the Pro Bowl in his long, 15-year career. If the 37-year-old had decided afterwards to hang ‘em up afterwards, no one would’ve blamed him.

However, the Detroit Lions long snapper isn’t going anywhere. On Wednesday afternoon the Lions announced that Muhlbach has re-signed with the team for the 2019 season.

Contract details were not announced, but there’s a pretty good chance Muhlbach has signed a one-year deal for the eighth consecutive year.

As pointed out by Lions director of football communications Eamonn Reynolds, if Muhlbach plays in just a single game in 2019, it will be his 16th season with the Lions—the second most of any Lions player in history. He is the only player that remains from the 2008 team that infamously went 0-16.

It has now become tradition that every time Muhlbach re-signs with the team, we re-visit his incredible highlight reel. Enjoy, and welcome back, Mule!
