With word now out that Landon Collins has been officially told that he won’t be getting the franchise tag from the New York Giants, it’s all but certain the three-time Pro Bowl safety will hit free agency. Monday, we noted how Detroit Lions defensive lineman Damon Harrison Sr. was actively trying to recruit Collins to join the team, which is already chock full of former Giants defenders.
On Tuesday, some of Harrison’s current teammates followed suit, and now the Collins-to-Detroit campaign effort is in full effect.
First, there was Quandre Diggs:

i’m trying to get it set up bro! We in the door!

It’s hard to know exactly what Diggs means by “we in the door,” but it definitely seems significant. Is Diggs meeting with Collins? Is Collins meeting with Bob Quinn? DID QUANDRE DIGGS JUST ADMIT TO ILLEGAL TAMPERING?!?!
Regardless, Diggs and Harrison weren’t alone in their efforts. Another Giant-turned-Lion went to Twitter to try and get Collins to the D:
Time for you to join ya boys in that Honolulu blue fam!

It’s hard to know if these kind of recruiting efforts truly have an impact on free agency—and if they actually do, you have to wonder if the NFL will crack down on this in the future for tampering—but it can’t hurt. And considering Collins has been renowned as a great locker room personality, it certainly is possible that he’d want to join up with some familiar faces. He’d have plenty in Detroit.
And it’s not just Lions players talking about Collins moving to Detroit. ESPN insider Dan Graziano threw the Lions’ name out there as a potential landing spot for Collins.
The Lions and Colts jump out to me as teams that would pay big to bring in Landon Collins, but I believe his market would be very strong. https://t.co/H9Y7wvHHab

Speaking of the Colts, a familiar name is doing his own part to recruit Collins to Indy... and he’s trying to sabotage efforts from Detroit:

That sent off a hilarious exchange between Eric Ebron and Diggs:
Nobody wanna do that Patriot way bull- #COLTure

I’m just trying to make my team better bro. Ion want no Prob with Q Diggs

Who’s ready for free agency next week? *raises hand*
