NFL Draft: Detroit Lions have top-30 visit with Brian Burns

The Lions are doing their due diligence on the potential top-10 pick.

Florida State edge defender Brian Burns is the latest Detroit Lions top-30 visit for the 2019 NFL Draft. The top-tier prospect told Chris Simms on Chris Simms Unbuttoned that he has meetings set with the Lions, Giants, Colts and Buccaneers.

We’ve talked a lot about Burns lately, especially when it comes to the recent Brian Burns vs. Montez Sweat that has emerged from our latest picks in the SB Nation Mock Draft and Pride of Detroit Community Mock Draft, respectively.

Burns enters the pros coming off a very productive career with Florida State. In three years, Burns tallied 38.5 tackles for loss and 23.0 sacks. Though many call him undersized, he actually measure similarly (6-foot-5, 249 pounds) to Lions edge Devon Kennard (6-foot-4, 256), the man he would potentially be replacing.

Top-30 visits don’t necessarily mean the Lions are extremely interested in the prospect, but obviously the fact that Detroit is doing extra homework on him means he is certainly a possibility with their first-round pick.
