The New York Giants are on the clock again in our Pride of Detroit Community Mock Draft. With their sixth overall pick, the Giants grabbed their quarterback of the future in Dwayne Haskins, but where will they go with their second first-round pick.
Commenter kevster is up to the challenge and with the 16th pick in the POD Community Mock, the Giants have selected cornerback Greedy Williams. Here’s kevster’s explanation:
“With Eli’s successor already established in Dwayne Haskins, I was looking for pass rushing help or a right tackle to solidify the offensive line. Unfortunately, this year’s crop of offensive line talent isn’t strong, and the best RT is already off the board in Jawaan Taylor. The overrated and t-rex armed Jonah Williams was selected already as well. To make matters worse, three of the past four picks have been defensive ends. This situation told me that I needed to think BPA instead.
Somehow, Greedy Williams is still on the board at pick 17. The Giants are in dire need of talent at all levels of the defense and Greedy is an extremely talented and productive cornerback who probably should have gone in the top 10. The Giants will need strong coverage play from its secondary this year to mask their lack of pass rushing talent. Greedy is the closest thing to a lockdown corner in this draft and he also gives the Giants the ability to move on from Janoris Jenkins and most of his $14.75 million cap hit the next two seasons. This move would bring the Giants to almost $100 million in cap space for the 2020 season. Not even Dave Gettleman could screw this up, right?”
