The team reportedly tendered Washington in early March.
Washington is designated as an ERFA as he was an undrafted free agent coming out of Fresno State in 2017, and has not eclipsed two years of playing time. The deal he signed with the Detroit will be worth one, fully guaranteed, season on the league minimum salary. Washington could choose not to sign the tender, but only if he was willing to sit out of the entire 2019 season.
The safety was used as a special teams specialist for Detroit. Washington played 228 special teams snaps last season, and earned 0 on the team’s defense. He played in 13 games in 2018, accruing six combined tackles. In his two seasons in the NFL, he has played in 29 games, notching 13 tackles, including a singular tackle for loss.
