The Detroit Lions open rookie minicamp this week on Friday. There will be plenty of storylines to follow as we (hopefully) get updates from Allen Park throughout the weekend. There’s a handful of undrafted free agents (UDFAs) to follow, some tryouts to keep an eye on, and, of course, there’s the Lions 2019 NFL Draft class to follow.
So today’s Question of the Day is:
Which Lions rookie are you most excited to hear about at rookie minicamp this week?
My answer: It has to be Lions second-round pick Jahlani Tavai. While we won’t be able to get a good idea of just how good the Hawaii linebacker is based on a few practices with fellow rookies, I am very interested in what the team’s expectation for him is. Will he be a middle linebacker? Will he be an edge defender?
Hawaii used Tavai all over the place, and maybe that’s the Lions’ plan for him, too. Either way, I want to see where Tavai lines up this weekend, and I’d love to hear reports that he stuck out among his fellow rookies.
Other players I’m interested in hearing about include UDFA guard Beau Benzschawel, sixth-round running back Ty Johnson, and fourth-round pick Austin Bryant.
Your turn.
