The Detroit Lions begin rookie minicamp on Friday, and as players begin to file in, the team will start officially signing them to the team (although players don’t need to be signed to participate in rookie minicamp).
While the team has yet to officially announce any signings, rookie cornerback Amani Oruwariye became the first Lions 2019 draft pick to publicly announce that he has signed with the Lions:

Contract terms have not been announced, but it is expected to be a four-year deal that counts only $575,833 against the cap, per OverTheCap’s rookie scale estimations.
Oruwariye was the Lions’ fifth-round selection in the NFL Draft and is expected to be in competition for the Lions’ outside cornerback job on the other side of Darius Slay. In his senior year at Penn State, Oruwariye notched 11 passes defended, three interceptions and one forced fumble.
The Lions are likely to announce a slew of signings in the next few days, as the players, drafted and otherwise, compete for a spot on their current 90-man roster. We’ll continue to offer updates as the Lions sign more of their 2019 draft class and—fingers crossed—assign them actual jersey numbers.
