Damon Harrison Sr. has had an interesting offseason. He’s skipped out on voluntary workouts and Organized Team Activities—which is nothing new for the seven-year veteran. He’s developed his own offseason routine, and, as general manager Bob Quinn noted during Phase 1 of the offseason, his absence was not contract related.
However, Harrison did change agents this January, signing with big-time agent Drew Rosenhaus. Despite having two years remaining on his contract, Harrison reportedly does want a new deal in Detroit.
Last week, Harrison has expressed his frustration on Twitter about how fans of both the Lions and Giants keep talking about his contract situation.
“Y’all wake up every day and talk about this contract shit,” Harrison tweeted last week. “Giants fans tweet me every day about how much of a bum I am and how they glad I’m gone.”
It appears Harrison is nearly ready to set the record straight. On Saturday night, the veteran defensive tackle teased about revealing everything going on behind closed doors and promised some big news soon.
In due time all of my actions including how I ended up being traded will be explained...but for now I’ll let the speculations continue. Major news coming soon though!!

With mandatory minicamp starting for the Lions on Tuesday, will Harrison show up? Will that provide a deadline for Detroit and Harrison to strike a deal for an extension? It’s worth noting that Quinn typically doesn’t get deals done until training camp, but it’s always possible he makes an exception for Harrison.
Or maybe it’s something else entirely. Given the success of his Snacks Snack Bracket, maybe he’s getting his own line of Little Debbie cakes. Or maybe he knows something about “Hard Knocks” that we don’t. As Harrison said, let the speculations continue.
