On Sunday, our open thread was a question of who your favorite player is on the current Lions roster. With answers varying from cornerbacks to long snappers, you gave just about every answer possible.
With that being the case, it’s inevitable for us to ask:
Who’s your favorite Lions player of all time?
My answer: I went with an unconventional answer on Sunday, naming a punter as my favorite current Lion. If we’re talking all time, however, you know I have to go mainstream and say Calvin “Megatron” Johnson himself.
I’m sure this won’t be as popular of a pick as it would’ve been, say, three months ago given the spotlight on his signing bonus debacle, but I’m not weighing that here. From strictly an on-field perspective, Johnson was the most fun Lions player I’ve watched in a long time.
There was no uncertainty. If I saw Matthew Stafford wind up to heave the ball off screen, I didn’t hesitate or worry that it would be an arm punt... I knew Megatron was coming down with it. I don’t think I’ve ever had that level of certainty in any other Lions player.
Who’s your favorite Lion of all time? let us know in the comments.
