The Detroit Lions announced on Tuesday morning that their preseason broadcasting crew will have a new member. Fred McLeod will take over the play-by-play calls for the local FOX 2 Detroit broadcast in 2019. McLeod replaces Matt Shepard, who has taken over as the play-by-play announcer for the Detroit Tigers earlier this year.

You may recognize McLeod from his 22 years as the Detroit Pistons’ play-by-play announcer. He also has experience announcing for the Cleveland Cavaliers, and working for local TV stations WJBK-FOX 2 and WDIV-Local 4.

Returning to the local broadcasts are color commentator and Lions legend Chris Spielman, along with sideline reporter/DetroitLions.com multimedia journalist Tori Petry.

The Lions’ preseason games will be broadcast on FOX 2 Detroit locally, with the exception of the Lions’ third preseason game against the Buffalo Bills, which will be aired nationally on CBS.
