With both Damon “Snacks” Harrison and Darius Slay missing mandator minicamp last week, it’s become clear that both are trying to leverage themselves a new or restructured contract. Both have played well for the Lions and both deserve it, if you ask me.
Neither player has any guaranteed money remaining on the final two years of their contract, so it’s very possible that at the very least, these two players are attempting to make some of that money a sure thing. Both players are pivotal pieces for Matt Patricia’s defense as he enters his second year as a head coach.
Today’s Question of the Day is:
Which player should the Lions have higher priority to giving a new deal?
My answer: The easy answer would be both, because I believe both deserve a new deal, but if I’m forced to choose, then I’d have to go with Darius Slay. Snacks is a monster in the trenches, but I put higher priority on having our best cornerback on the field.
Slay is slightly younger and has been an important piece to this team for years, and it would be sad to see his marriage with the Lions come to an end, if things were to get any worse.
