Former Lions RB Theo Riddick expected to sign with Denver Broncos

Riddick will get his chance at revenge in Week 16.

Former Detroit Lions running back Theo Riddick appears to be headed to the Mile High City. According to Mike Klis of 9News, Riddick is expected to sign with the Denver Broncos later this week.

Per Klis, Riddick has many suitors, but was most highly pursued by the Broncos and Saints. Last week, the Lions released Riddick after adding former Packers defensive tackle Mike Daniels.

In six years with the Lions, Riddick pulled in 285 catches for 2,238 yards and 14 touchdowns. He also rushed for 1023 yards on 288 carries (3.6 YPC) and an additional five touchdowns.

Riddick was also one of the team’s best pass blockers, and one of their better options on third downs. However, the team added both C.J. Anderson and Ty Johnson this offseason, making Riddick—and his $4.625 million cap hit—expendable.

Riddick will get a chance to face his former team when the Lions and Broncos face off in Week 16 of the regular season.
