Prior to Sunday’s practice, the Detroit Lions announced yet another roster move in the wake of their first preseason game. Linebacker Tre Lamar has been waived with an injury designation. If Lamar goes unclaimed through waivers, he will revert to the Lions’ reserved-injured list.
Lamar played in 17 defensive snaps against the New England Patriots on Thursday night, racking up five tackles in the process. However, he was not participating during Saturday’s practice. Lamar, an undrafted linebacker out of Clemson, had a tough route to make the final team, but he made a few good plays during the preseason and was trending in the right direction.
With the extra roster spot, the Lions added wide receiver Deontez Alexander. Alexander was waived by the team a week ago to make room for another cornerback (Tarvarus McFadden) following Teez Tabor’s injury. The Lions could use the extra wide receiver help after placing Jermaine Kearse on IR this week.
