NFL: Houston Texans-Training Camp Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

We’re officially onto Houston after the Detroit Lions laid a dud in the preseason opener. But a new weeks sparks a new opportunity for hope. The Lions will get their chance to measure up against another team this week, as they face off against the Texans for a set of two joint practices and a preseason game.

Obviously, none of this matters when it comes to the final 2019 NFL standings, but having the opportunity to measure up against another team provides valuable information on how the season may play out. Joint practices are especially unique, as they give us the opportunity to see plenty of first-team reps, whereas the preseason game may give us nothing.

Unfortunately, Pride of Detroit didn’t make the trip out west, so we won’t be offering our daily observations. But we will be glued to Twitter all morning to see every little highlight or nugget of news that comes from Houston this week.

If you want to tag along, we’ve provided a nice Twitter list of the writers on hand Wednesday morning, as the Lions and Texans face off around 10:10 a.m. ET. This Twitter list includes a few Texans writers to keep the coverage fair and balanced. If you’re looking for some Texans writers to follow, the one’s I’ve included are John McClain (@McClain_on_NFL), Aaron Wilson (@AaronWilson_NFL), and John Harris (@jharrisfootball).
