The Detroit Lions are in Houston trying to exert their dominance over the Texans this week. And unlike practices at Allen Park, we’re seeing some highlights creep in via social media from Wednesday’s practice.

The biggest one came from a bit of an unexpected source. Lions receiver Deontez Alexander was released a couple weeks ago when the Lions needed some extra help at cornerback. The Lions re-signed him just two days ago. Then he went to Houston and did this:

That’s Alexander making a near-impossible catch over former first-round pick Bradley Roby. It appears it was newly-signed quarterback Josh Johnson with the pass, which was placed pretty much in the only place Alexander could have made a play on. And, yes, Alexander did get two feet in.

Alexander is obviously facing long odds to make the roster considering the team let him go last week, but after Jermaine Kearse’s season-ending injury in the preseason opener, Alexander has another life in Detroit. If he keeps making plays like this, he could certainly make a case for the 53-man roster.
