The Detroit Lions have taken start defensive tackle Damon Harrison Sr. off the Non-Football Injury (NFI) list. According to head coach Matt Patricia, they will ease him into practice starting with Thursday’s joint session with the Houston Texans.
Harrison started training camp on the NFI list with no clear injury. It’s unclear whether it was an injury or conditioning issue with Harrison, but regardless, he’s apparently healthy and ready enough to finally get going in training camp.
This will be Harrison’s first time training with the team during the offseason, as the defensive tackle sat out of minicamp and Organized Team Activities in the spring.
Last year, the difference in the team with and without Harrison was night and day. Prior to the midseason trade, the Lions were one of the worst teams at defending the run. After the trade for Harrison, the Lions became one of the best run defenses.
