The stakes are high and Detroit Lions rookie cornerback Amani Oruwariye has something to prove Thursday night.
Pro Football Focus listed players from all 32 teams you should keep an eye on in the fourth and final week of the preseason. Oruwariye was selected as the Lions player to watch in their upcoming game against the Cleveland Browns.
Though he’s almost guaranteed to make the roster, his preseason performance has been a little rough. In 117 snaps, Oruwariye earned a 41.1 grade overall and a 36.2 cover grade, according to PFF.
“It’s highly unlikely he misses the cut when the axe comes swinging, but he still needs to turn his play around to warrant any level of playing time in the regular season,” the analysis team writes.
A rookie out of Penn State, the Lions selected Oruwariye in fifth round (146th overall) of the draft this year. He’ll need a good showing against the Browns to prove why he should be on the field this season.
