Chachere is the second Lions cornerback released among the Lions’ first four cuts. Earlier in the day, the Lions cut former second-round pick Teez Tabor.
The Lions scooped up Chachere on their practice squad in November of last season, but he never made a game appearance for the team. This year, Chachere made a handful of plays during training camp and the preseason, but he was consistently repping with the second and third team defenses despite injuries to the team’s top corners.
Chachere is still practice squad eligible, so there’s a decent chance he sticks around Detroit should the Lions still want him. First, he’ll have to hit waivers on Sunday. If he clears, the Lions could bring him back starting Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
