On Sunday morning, Detroit Lions head coach Matt Patricia announced a few roster moves prior to their ninth training camp practice.

The team has signed cornerback Tarvarus McFadden, an undrafted talent out of Florida State who spent his 2018 rookie season with 49ers and Colts. At the end of the year, the 49ers signed him to a futures contract, but he was waived just a few days after the 2019 NFL Draft, in which the 49ers drafted Virginia cornerback Tim Harris in the sixth round.

To make room for McFadden, the Lions have waived receiver Deontez Alexander. Detroit signed Alexander as an undrafted rookie last season. Initially placed on the reserved injured list during training camp last season, the Lions eventually brought back Alexander on their practice squad, but he didn’t make any game appearances.

Finally, Patricia announced that Darius Kilgo will be practicing on Sunday, meaning he has been activated from the Non-Football Injury list. At this point, there are only four players remaining on the preseason injury lists: Damon Harrison Sr. is still on the NFI list, while Tommylee Lewis, Steve Longa and Trey Flowers remain on the Physically Unable to Perform list.
