Do you smell that?
Football is in the air!
A new year begins with a new slate of preseason games. This is where we’ll finally start to see where the guys on the roster bubble are at and how well they perform. And if this year is like years past, we’ll also see some guys break away from the pack.
I remember last season both Kerryon Johnson and Leo Koloamatangi sparked in the first preseason game against the Raiders.
So far we’ve seen some guys stand out in practice, but an actual game is a whole new environment.
That brings us to today’s question:
Who will stand out in the Lions’ preseason opener?
My answer: Ty Johnson
I think an early preseason game is a great opportunity for a guy like Johnson to shine. The 5-foot-10, 208 pound running back has reported sub-4.3 speed and could carve out a role with some solid playing time tonight.
He also should get plenty of playing time. The Lions probably won’t play Kerryon Johnson or C.J. Anderson much in the first preseason game against the New England Patriots. That should leave plenty of opportunities for Johnson.
Your turn.
