Welcome to a new Detroit Lions season! If this is your first with the Pride of Detroit family, welcome! If you’re a seasoned POD veteran, thanks for sticking with us, and hopefully you make the cut this year.

We may not be into the real thing yet, but the first preseason game has a certain kind of excitement that the regular season opener doesn’t. Right now, we’re completely in the dark as to what this team may look like in 2019. Sure we may have read the scouting reports from the rookie, and maybe you saw a training camp practice or two, but Thursday night will provide our first look at this team in a game-like environment against an opponent.

We finally get to open the present underneath the tree, even if it’s just the small one.

Anyways, the Detroit Lions take on the New England Patriots tonight, and the intensity is always high when the reigning Super Bowl champs are in town. Sure, it’s just preseason, but Lions players and coaches know their performance Thursday night will still be measured against the best.

So if you’re watching the game Thursday night, come chat with us in the comment section. Each and every game of the season we hold a chat in the comment section so that you can watch the game virtually next to thousands of Lions fans. We’ll have a second-half open thread as well, when the time comes.

Happy new season, everyone! Go Lions!
