Brossette was added to the Patriots preseason roster as a free agent after failing to be selected in the 2019 NFL draft. He featured prominently for the team in preseason, but did not do enough to beat the long odds to make the roster. Brossette featured against the Lions in Week 1 of preseason, rushing for 66 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries.
The running back played for four years at LSU, but did not take on a featured role in their offense until his senior season. In 2018, he rushed for 1,039 yards and 14 touchdowns. He also caught 14 passes for 78 yards.
In order to make room for Brossette on the practice squad the team released running back David Williams, who was brought on to the practice squad only one day earlier.
