All locker room celebrations are pretty awesome. Getting to see players and coaches celebrate after months and months of preparation is a unique peek into an emotional moment for players that have seen their efforts pay off.
Take, for example, Jamal Agnew’s situation. Watching a guy like Agnew get a flooding of support from teammates after last week’s devastating benching is truly a moment that warms the heart.
But this week’s celebration video is even more special than that.

Put aside a clearly amped Matt Patricia for a moment.
Towards the end, Patricia offered a side of him we have yet to really see. In a sincerely emotional moment, the Lions head coach offers the game ball to assistant offensive line coach Hank Fraley, who obviously had an emotional week. Prior to the game, Fraley visited his father’s grave for the first time since he passed away over a year ago.
Here’s Patricia’s speech and ode to Fraley verbatim:
“We have a brotherhood here. We have a brotherhood. I love every single one of you guys, I know you guys love each other. One of ours—okay, men—he played here for a long time. He gave a lot to the city of Philadelphia. A little over a year ago, he lost his dad. He came back to Philly to bury him. He hasn’t been back in a year. He went and saw him this morning. I know his dad was with us today. I’m going to give this ball to Hank.”
Classy move, Matt.
